چکیده

Rhodosporidium toruloides and Tetradesmus obliquus pure mixed cultures were grown on primary brewery wastewater (PBWW), with without supplementation of sugarcane molasses (SCM) urea. R. developed in was not able to grow PBWW, or supplementation, but grew the microalga T. all media. In contrast, develop. Higher biomass productivity (149.3 mg L−1 h−1) obtained for culture using PBWW supplemented 10 g SCM 2 Therefore, a strategy stimulate lipid production by higher concentrations (20, 40 100 L-1 SCM) developed. The maximum content (26.3 % (w/w DCW)) plus urea, at t = 121 h. This work demonstrated feasibility urea as medium produce microbial lipids.

Lipid production by Rhodosporidium toruloides Y2 in bioethanol wastewater and evaluation of biomass energetic yield.

The oleaginous yeast Rhodosporidium toruloides Y2 was employed to remove waste nutrients from bioethanol wastewater while simultaneously producing biomass enriched in microbial lipids. Under optimal conditions, the COD degradation ratio, biomass and lipid content reached 72.3%, 3.8 g/l and 34.9%, respectively. For accelerating biomass and lipid accumulation, different feeding strategies of subs...

The Production, Regulation and Extraction of Carotenoids from Rhodosporidium toruloides

Carotenoids are valuable pigments of commercial interest for various health benefits. There is rising demand for natural carotenoids from microorganisms, although the majority of industrially produced carotenoids are currently chemically synthesized. Rhodosporidium toruloides is oleaginous red yeast, which can produce large amounts of carotenoids and lipids simultaneously. It is also able to as...

Dynamics of the lipid droplet proteome of the Oleaginous yeast rhodosporidium toruloides.

Lipid droplets (LDs) are ubiquitous organelles that serve as a neutral lipid reservoir and a hub for lipid metabolism. Manipulating LD formation, evolution, and mobilization in oleaginous species may lead to the production of fatty acid-derived biofuels and chemicals. However, key factors regulating LD dynamics remain poorly characterized. Here we purified the LDs and identified LD-associated p...

High concentrations of dried sorghum stalks as a biomass feedstock for single cell oil production by Rhodosporidium toruloides

BACKGROUND Environmental crisis and concerns for energy security have made the research for renewable fuels that will substitute the usage of fossil fuels an important priority. Biodiesel is a potential substitute for petroleum, but its feasibility is hindered by the utilization of edible vegetable oil as raw material, which is responsible for a large fraction of the production cost and fosters...

Enhanced lipid production by Rhodosporidium toruloides using different fed-batch feeding strategies with lignocellulosic hydrolysate as the sole carbon source

BACKGROUND Industrial biotechnology that is able to provide environmentally friendly bio-based products has attracted more attention in replacing petroleum-based industries. Currently, most of the carbon sources used for fermentation-based bioprocesses are obtained from agricultural commodities that are used as foodstuff for human beings. Lignocellulose-derived sugars as the non-food, green, an...
